The promoted catalysts of the invention can comprise one or more promoters. The total content of promoters in the finished catalyst is generally not more than about 5% by weight, in each case calculated as oxide. Preference is given to compositions which do not comprise any promoters and those which comprise iron or molybdenum as promoter.
After oxidizing a catalyst sample it was then exposed to a series of butene-argon pulses and the transient response of either butene or one of several reaction products was monitored. Comparison of the normalized furan yield as a function of pulse number for reactor equilibrated VPO, VPO modified with copper, and VPO modified with tellurium.
Three VPO catalysts doped with various copper concentrations and bulk VPO catalyst were prepared via sesquihydrate method.
